Welcoming Ms. Landry as principal in July of 2026.  Ms. Landry has taught grade 1 for over 15 years at SMA and is very excited to take on this new role.  

Ms. Alexopoulos brings a wide range of teaching and educational leadership experience across early childhood, private, and public education. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and M.Ed., graduating as valedictorian, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education at Northeastern University. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships and creating an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. 

Father CJ, has been the Pastor of St. Mary’s Church for the last 9 years and the parish priest to St. Mary’s Academy. He was ordained in 1991

Mrs. Allen is joined us in the fall of 2025 with a passion and enthusiasm for developing students academically, socially, and spiritually. She is pursuing continuing education in Early Childhood Education.   She resides in Enfield with her husband and three children, who also attend the school.

Mrs. McGuire joined in right away as a parent volunteer when her son and grandaughter became students of SMA.  Very soon after Mrs. McGuire took a position as our After School Coordinator and is now excited to be stepping  into the classroom in the fall of 2026!

Mrs. Nicholson & Mrs. Barnhart are having a great time co-teaching in the PreK 4 PT room! 

Ms. Wasiuk graduated from Assumption College. She has over 19 years of teaching experience and loves teaching at the Kindergarten level.

Ms. Sullivan is excited to be in Grade 1 this year! She has over 20 years experience and loves to share her love of learning with her students. When she is not in the classroom she enjoys spending time with her children, family, running and being outdoors.

Mrs. Widmer has her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with a reading concentration from Westfield State University. Mrs. Widmer has been teaching at St. Mary’s Academy for over 18 years! 

Mrs. Parent has been part of SMA many years.  All of her children have attended SMA and she was an active volunteer for many years before joining our staff.  She resides in Enfield with her husband and three children.

Mrs. Cass has a BA in Psychology and has been in Elementary Education for over 10 years.  She resides in Longmeadow with her husband and children. 

Mrs. Matte graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a concentration in Social Studies.  Catholic education is very important to the Matte family.  Both she and her husband have spent their entire teaching careers in the Springfield Diocese, and their daughter attended Catholic Schools from Pre-K through Grade 12.  Mrs. Matte is beginning her 31st year at the Academy.  Though teaching for many years, Mrs. Matte is always learning and works to bring new ideas to the classroom.

Mrs. Gonzalez received her degree in Elementary Education in 2000 and has been in Catholic Education since. She brings excitement and fun to each of her lessons.

Beth Callery is excited to join St. Mary’s Academy as a Jr. High Social Studies and Religion teacher. She has taught students in grades 3–8, with experience in Social Studies, Civics, Current Events, and English Language Arts. Beth earned her B.A. in History with a minor in French from Dartmouth College and her M.Ed. in Secondary History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She especially enjoys creating engaging lessons that encourage students to think critically, ask questions, and connect history to the world around them. 

Mrs. Cannon received her BA in English and also Music from UMass Amherst as well as a MA in English with a Certificate in Secondary Education, Musical Theater and Choral Studies. She transitioned from teaching in public schools to private schools in 2015 and has been with St. Mary’s Academy since 2018.

Mrs. Brodeur has been teaching Junior High Math and Science for over thirty years, obtaining her degree from Westfield State University. Mrs. Brodeur enjoys running our theater department.

Welcoming Ms. Adamski-Maggi fall of 2025.

Mr. Barrows graduated from Lowell Technological Institute (now known as UMASS Lowell). He truly enjoys technology and sharing his knowledge with the students in grades K – 6.

Mrs. McDonald has been the Librarian at St. Mary’s Academy since 1991. Mrs. McDonald received her degree from AIC in 1967, and her Master’s in Education from Westfield State in 1975.

Ms. Vazquez joined us in the fall of 2022.  Her love for teaching shows through in her fun and interactive lessons. 

Mr. Conway joined SMA in the Fall of 2022.  His love for fitness is shows through in his lessons.

Mrs. Coty is a graduate of Northeastern University. She worked as an academic tutor for Enfield Public Schools prior to joining SMA in the fall of 2025. She creates engaging lessons that strengthen literacy skills while having fun. Mrs. Coty focuses on building students' confidence and progress to foster a love of reading.

Mrs. Denno joined us in the summer of 2024. Mrs. Denno had worked at SMA several years before taking a position in the Diocese Office.  We are excited to have her back at SMA. 

Amy Mendrala – Mrs. Mendrala joined SMA in 2020 . She has over 25 years experience in event planning/development.  Mrs. Mendrala resides in Feeding Hills with her husband and sons. 

Wendy Goulet, RN – Nurse Wendy loves what she does and it shows! She is looking forward to keeping everyone healthy and safe this year.

On January 19, 2026 our SMA family  unexpectedly lost our dear friend Mrs. Orszulak.  Mrs. Orszulak  was dedicated to keeping our students safe at recess and lunch for over 36 years.  Her children attended SMA and she was passionate about our school,  a dedicated supporter and staff member.  Anyone who knew Janice knew her for her generousity, honest answer , her steadfast faith and love for her family and friends.  She forever will hold a special place in the heart of SMA.
