Assistant Principal
Ms.Alexopoulos
Ms. Alexopoulos brings a wide range of teaching and educational leadership experience across early childhood, private, and public education. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and M.Ed., graduating as valedictorian, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education at Northeastern University. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships and creating an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.


PreK 3 (3-Day)
Mrs Allen
Mrs. Allen is joined us in the fall of 2025 with a passion and enthusiasm for developing students academically, socially, and spiritually. She is pursuing continuing education in Early Childhood Education. She resides in Enfield with her husband and three children, who also attend the school.

PreK 3 Aide (3-Day)
Mrs. McGuire
Mrs. McGuire joined in right away as a parent volunteer when her son and grandaughter became students of SMA. Very soon after Mrs. McGuire took a position as our After School Coordinator and is now excited to be stepping into the classroom in the fall of 2026!

Third Grade
Ms. Alexopoulos

Fourth Grade
Mrs. Matte
Mrs. Matte graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a concentration in Social Studies. Catholic education is very important to the Matte family. Both she and her husband have spent their entire teaching careers in the Springfield Diocese, and their daughter attended Catholic Schools from Pre-K through Grade 12. Mrs. Matte is beginning her 31st year at the Academy. Though teaching for many years, Mrs. Matte is always learning and works to bring new ideas to the classroom.


Sixth Grade HR
Mrs. Callery
Beth Callery is excited to join St. Mary’s Academy as a Jr. High Social Studies and Religion teacher. She has taught students in grades 3–8, with experience in Social Studies, Civics, Current Events, and English Language Arts. Beth earned her B.A. in History with a minor in French from Dartmouth College and her M.Ed. in Secondary History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She especially enjoys creating engaging lessons that encourage students to think critically, ask questions, and connect history to the world around them.

Seventh Grade HR
Mrs. Cannon
Mrs. Cannon received her BA in English and also Music from UMass Amherst as well as a MA in English with a Certificate in Secondary Education, Musical Theater and Choral Studies. She transitioned from teaching in public schools to private schools in 2015 and has been with St. Mary’s Academy since 2018.






Reading Support
Mrs. Coty
Mrs. Coty is a graduate of Northeastern University. She worked as an academic tutor for Enfield Public Schools prior to joining SMA in the fall of 2025. She creates engaging lessons that strengthen literacy skills while having fun. Mrs. Coty focuses on building students' confidence and progress to foster a love of reading.

"Jani O. "
On January 19, 2026 our SMA family unexpectedly lost our dear friend Mrs. Orszulak. Mrs. Orszulak was dedicated to keeping our students safe at recess and lunch for over 36 years. Her children attended SMA and she was passionate about our school, a dedicated supporter and staff member. Anyone who knew Janice knew her for her generousity, honest answer , her steadfast faith and love for her family and friends. She forever will hold a special place in the heart of SMA.
